    Vì sao quan trọng
Almost every loyalty programme in F&B is counter-bound, and almost nobody describes it that way, because the counter is where the till already is. The design decision is invisible: joining means a cashier asking for a phone number, earning means the cashier attaching points to a bill, redeeming means asking the cashier what you have, and follow-up means whatever the cashier remembers to say.
    Ví dụ thực tế
A billiards club with a loyalty module in its POS enrols 14 members in a week — every one of them a payer, all signed up by whichever cashier remembered to ask. After the same four jobs move off the counter, joining is a QR on the table, earning is a receipt photo, and the cap on member growth is the number of players in the room rather than the number of bills.

Once you name it, the failure modes stop looking like separate problems. The cashier bottleneck is job one and job two collapsing at peak hour. Invisible points are job three: a customer who cannot check a balance without asking a stranger simply stops caring. Silent churn is job four never happening at all. The payer-only ceiling is the arithmetic consequence — the counter only meets one person per party.

Counter-bound is not the same as low-tech. A modern POS with a loyalty module built in is still counter-bound if all four jobs run through the payment screen. The question is not how good the software is; it is where the four jobs happen.

The alternative is to move each job off the counter: joining by an in-venue QR anyone present can scan, earning by the customer photographing their own receipt, redeeming online as well as in-store, and follow-up by automated messages on the channel the customer already uses. Staff workload goes to zero, and the programme stops depending on the busiest 90 seconds of the day.

    Câu hỏi thường gặp

    What is counter-bound loyalty?

It's a loyalty programme in which joining, earning points, redeeming rewards and customer follow-up can all only happen at the counter, in front of staff, at the moment of payment.

How is it different from the cashier bottleneck?

The cashier bottleneck is one symptom — enrolment and earning failing at peak hour. Counter-bound loyalty is the root cause that also produces invisible points, silent churn and the payer-only ceiling.

Can a programme built into a modern POS still be counter-bound?

Yes. Being counter-bound is about where the four jobs happen, not how new the software is. If all four run through the payment screen, the same failure modes appear regardless of vendor.

What does a programme that is not counter-bound look like?

Joining happens by an in-venue QR anyone present can scan, earning happens when the customer photographs their own receipt, redemption works online and in-store, and follow-up is automated on the customer's existing messaging channel.
