PayNow loyalty
Written by PEKO Team.Last updated: 05/23/2026.
PayNow loyalty is a Singapore retention pattern that uses the customer's PayNow mobile number or UEN as the loyalty identifier, with rewards settled directly back to PayNow — eliminating the need for a separate loyalty app or card.

PayNow loyalty solved the single biggest UX problem in Singapore F&B retention: customers refusing to download yet another app. By treating the PayNow handle (mobile number or UEN) as the loyalty ID, operators identify the customer at the moment of payment without any extra tap.
Mechanically it works in three steps. (1) Customer pays via PayNow at the POS as normal. (2) The retention system matches the PayNow handle to a customer record and updates visit count, basket history, and a churn score. (3) Rewards (cashback, credit, surprise upgrades) settle back to the same PayNow handle on the next visit — never as a coupon code.
The category is dominated by F&B (kopitiams, cafés, bakeries) but also growing in beauty (salons, spas) where the rebook reminder via WhatsApp ties cleanly to a PayNow cashback nudge.
Worked example
An Orchard café running PayNow loyalty saw a 19% lift in 60-day repeat-rate versus its previous card-stamp program, with zero customer onboarding friction. The single biggest driver: lapsed regulars (45–75 days out) being recovered via S$2 PayNow cashback nudges.
FAQ
Is PayNow loyalty MAS-regulated?
PayNow itself is governed by ABS and MAS, but the loyalty layer on top is software — PDPA governs the customer data, not MAS. Standard PDPA consent and audit-trail rules apply.
Do I need a new merchant account?
No. PayNow loyalty uses your existing PayNow Corporate setup. The retention layer reads transaction metadata via your POS, not directly from PayNow.
Can PayNow loyalty work across multiple outlets?
Yes — the customer's PayNow handle is the same across outlets, so the loyalty record is unified by default. Multi-outlet operators get cross-location attribution without any extra setup.
