Birthday-week VIP playbook for restaurants: pre-book + table-side surprise + post-visit thank-you
Most restaurants send a generic '10% off this month' birthday voucher and watch it ignored. The winning pattern in 2026 is a 3-touch sequence built around a pre-book + an in-person gesture + a post-visit follow-up.
When it fires
Trigger: customer with confirmed birthday in CRM, opted-in Zalo OA, last visit within 12 months. PEKO stages all 3 touches automatically once birthday is set.
Message copy that works
Touch 1 (T−7 days): Zalo OA — 'Sinh nhật của anh/chị tuần sau. Đặt bàn trước để team chuẩn bị riêng' + 1-tap booking link. Touch 2 (on the day, table-side): staff brings a signature dessert with a written birthday card — no upsell. Touch 3 (T+2 days): Zalo OA — short thank-you + photo if taken + voucher for next visit (10–15%, 30-day expiry).
Cadence + timing
Touch 1 fires 7 days before birthday. Touch 2 is staff-triggered when the customer arrives (POS flag visible). Touch 3 fires 48h after the visit. Suppress all 3 touches if customer has unsubscribed or marked 'no birthday outreach'.
Expected lift
Restaurants running the 3-touch sequence see birthday-month revenue lift 18–28% vs control (no outreach). Single-touch voucher-only birthdays lift <5% in the same operator.
Guardrails — don't skip these
Don't send Touch 1 before T−7 — feels premature. Don't make Touch 2 a public production unless customer asked (some Vietnamese diners find table-side singing intrusive). Don't make Touch 3 voucher exceed 15% — birthday is gift, not discount campaign.
