Updated September 2026 Choose PEKO if you want a published price in ringgit, a free plan to start on, WhatsApp as the working channel, and a model that predicts which regulars are about to lapse before they do. Choose Mulah if SMS reach to every handset matters more than conversation, you want a Malaysian vendor that has been selling to local F&B since 2016, and you are comfortable asking for a quote .

Mulah Rewards is a long-standing Malaysian loyalty and SMS marketing vendor; PEKO is an AI customer-retention layer that runs alongside whatever till a venue already uses. This page compares the two on the facts each company publishes. See how PEKO shows up in-market on our Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines country pages.

    TL;DR
    • PEKO publishes RM pricing and a free plan for 300 members; Mulah's pricing is not published on its own site.
    • Both enrol guests without the cashier: Mulah via QR self-registration, PEKO via QR or a receipt photo.
    • Mulah's documented channel is SMS; PEKO's is WhatsApp, with lapse prediction on top.

What is Mulah? Malaysian customer-engagement and rewards platform for F&B and retail merchants, operating since 2016 and built around QR self-registration and SMS campaigns.

    The PEKO ecosystem

PEKO and LOOP are two products from the same company. PEKO is the AI retention layer and runs alongside the POS you already use. LOOP is the AI-native POS that covers operations: recipe-level inventory, staff shifts, table plans and the kitchen display. Each works on its own, and run together they share one dataset, so nothing has to be entered twice. See PEKO + LOOP in one ecosystem

    Choose PEKO when

    • You want to see the price before you talk to anyone — PEKO lists RM990–RM3,990 per year on its pricing page.
    • You want to start free and prove the retention lift before paying.
    • You want the platform to tell you who is about to stop coming, not just blast everyone.
    • You want the win-back to happen in WhatsApp, where guests reply.
    • You want one member list across several outlets.
    • You'd rather chat to your loyalty tool than click through 10 dropdowns — PEKO's AI Agent creates vouchers, segments and campaigns for you, and you only click Approve.

    Choose Mulah when

    • SMS is your requirement, because it reaches every handset with no app or platform dependency — PEKO sends SMS too, but puts the default spend into WhatsApp, so if SMS-only is a hard rule Mulah is built around it.
    • You want a Malaysia-only vendor with local merchants since 2016 — PEKO's Malaysian pricing, entity and WhatsApp channel are local, but PEKO has no Malaysian merchant base to point at yet, so the founding cohort is the honest comparison.
    • You are happy with a quoted price and a named account contact rather than a self-serve signup — PEKO is self-serve first; onboarding help is included on every plan, but there is no dedicated account manager on the entry tiers.
    • You mainly want scheduled campaign blasts rather than prediction — PEKO runs plain scheduled rules as well, so the prediction layer can stay switched off until you want it.

    Where PEKO is weaker

    • PEKO is not a POS and does not replace one — it reads the sale from the till you already run, so a venue with no POS at all still needs a till or has to capture visits from receipts and QR only.
    • PEKO has no Malaysian merchant base to cite yet; the 3,000 onboarded venues are in Vietnam — Malaysian venues join as a founding cohort, with local pricing, a Malaysian-market WhatsApp channel and onboarding support included.
    • Lapse prediction needs history: for roughly the first 14 days the model has too little signal — until then PEKO runs points, vouchers and rule-based reminders, which work on day one.
    • PEKO cannot force a guest to act; enrolment and redemption still depend on the guest scanning or replying — the QR and receipt paths exist so it never depends on the cashier asking, which is the more common failure.
    • PEKO is not an enterprise customer data platform: it will not model your whole omnichannel estate — it sits beside a CDP as the venue-level retention layer if you already run one.

    FAQ

How much does Mulah cost compared with PEKO?

Mulah does not publish pricing on its own site, so the honest answer is: not published, ask for a written quote and make sure it includes the per-SMS rate. PEKO lists RM990 per year for Standard up to RM3,990 per year for Professional Max, plus a free plan for 300 members. Prices checked 12 September 2026.

Does either one work with my POS?

Both sit beside the till rather than replacing it. PEKO has named API integrations and also reads receipts by photo, so any POS works. Mulah does not publish a named integration list, so ask which tills it has been deployed with.

SMS or WhatsApp — which is better in Malaysia?

SMS reaches every handset and needs no app, which is a real advantage; it is charged per message and rarely gets a reply. WhatsApp is where most Malaysian guests already talk, so replies and redemptions are easier to attribute. PEKO defaults to WhatsApp and can send SMS; Mulah's documented channel is SMS.

What is PEKO weakest at here?

Two things. PEKO has no Malaysian merchant base to point at yet — the 3,000 onboarded venues are in Vietnam, so Malaysian venues join as a founding cohort. And lapse prediction needs about 14 days of history before it is accurate; until then PEKO runs points, vouchers and rule-based reminders.

Do I still need to learn a complicated dashboard?

No. PEKO's embedded AI Agent takes actions for you — creating vouchers, building segments, drafting campaigns — inside the product. You describe what you want in chat, the Agent configures it, and you only click Approve. The full dashboard is there when you want it, but on any given day you can run PEKO by messaging the Agent.

    How we compare

Every comparison on this site is written from a fair market analyst stance — no hit pieces, no puffery.

    1. Public materials first. Competitor pricing, feature, and limitation claims are sourced from their own website, marketing collateral, and public reviews (Capterra, G2, App Store) — see the Sources & citations block above.
    2. Acknowledge real strengths. Each page includes a "Choose Mulah when" block that names the scenarios where the competitor is genuinely the better pick.
    3. Same feature grid. Every comparator uses the same feature axes (pricing, setup time, messaging channel, churn prediction, data ownership, and more) so you can read across vendors on the same grid.
    4. Refreshed when the market moves. This page was last updated on 09/12/2026. Spot a stale claim after a competitor pricing or feature change? Email hello@heypeko.com and we'll refresh it.
    5. No pay-to-rank. We take no payment from competitors to shape rankings or hide weaknesses. If you spot bias, tell us and we'll rewrite the section.
