Restaurant birthday flow: the 5-day-prior message that actually books tables

Birthday flows fail because they fire on the day or the day before. By then the customer has already decided where to go. Five days is the planning sweet spot for Vietnamese family birthdays.

When it fires

Fires 5 days before any customer's birthday IF the customer has visited in the last 6 months. PEKO suppresses recent diners (within 7 days) to avoid awkward overlap.

Message copy that works

'Sắp đến sinh nhật của [tên] rồi 🎂 — bên em giữ sẵn bàn riêng cho nhóm, tặng tráng miệng đặc biệt cho người sinh nhật. Chốt ngày nào ạ?' — group framing, free item for the birthday person only, ask for the date in the same message.

Cadence + timing

Send once, 5 days prior, 11am. If they reply, route to host for booking. If no reply, send a 2nd nudge 2 days before with a simpler 'we have a slot Saturday 7pm — interested?'

Expected lift

Conversion ranges 18–28%. The cohort that converts has 2.4× higher AOV than the average dinner because group bookings are higher-spend.

Guardrails — don't skip these

Don't include staff in the cohort. Don't auto-discount the bill — gift the dessert as a host-led gesture instead. Suppress if the customer has booked already.
